Today, July 27, 2011 is Rua’s 1st birthday.  It is so hard to believe my little girl is already one!  It really seems like yesterday (September 24th, 2010) that we brought home that tiny little 3lb 15ounce red-haired beauty.

This is the very first picture I took of her when she came home.  She was so little and just absolutely stinkin’ cute.

As I look back on the past 10 months that Rua has been with us, I can see the changes and progress we have made.

Confinement – Where we started: Crate in the bedroom for naps and night-night; Ex-pen in the living room when dinner needed to be made; travel kennel in front of the TV downstairs to watch a movie; travel kennel seat-belted in the back seat for traveling; leash handle wrapped through my foot while I was on the computer.  Where we are:  Crate when we are gone; sleeping on the bed; naps wherever she wants!

Potty Training – Where we started:  out every hour to “go potty”; doors outfitted with Poochie Bells; Nature’s Miracle in the gallon jug; my new best friend the Bissell Pet Spot Bot; watching her like a hawk (I actually tethered her to me).  Where we are:  Rua lets us know when she has to go!

Intake and Output – Where we started:  feeding at 6AM, noon and 6PM;  rating the output on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being liquid and 5 being solid waste.  Where we are: feeding 5:55AM and 5:55PM; solid waste at 6AM and 6PM!

Worrying – Where we started:  worried about everything – was that a sneeze, should I call the vet, did she just cough, should I call that vet, what is that spot on her, should I call the vet.  Where we are:  pulling a tick off her; cutting her nails myself without being afraid of cutting the quick!

Dresses – Tiny pink dress to big pink dress!

Aren't I Pretty?

Love – Where we started: I just loved that little girl.  Where we are: She is the little love of my live and when I am not home all I want is to be home with her.  I actually have turned down offers from my husband to go out to dinner because I don’t want to leave her.  I find that it is all about finding places to go that Rua is welcome.

Auntie Dawn, Rua, Momma & Auntie AprilMy sisters, Dawn and April, came out from California for a long weekend from Friday to yesterday…we had a little party for Rua on Saturday.  Notice what they were holding onto while I was holding on to Rua!
